Day 506-508 – 11.-13. June 2015

At 11 am I took a bus from Isfahan back to Teheran. Buses are very cheap in Iran. For 8€ I got a 6 hour trip in a very confortahbe seat with water and a section of fruits.

In Teheran I met Sahel at the terminal to go back to Qazvin. But there are two bus-stations in Teheran and so I had to take a taxi from one terminal to the other.

In Qazvin I spend one night with Sahel and her family and the next morning they took my luggage and I cycled to the Terminal to take a bus to Zanjan, about 200km to the north west.

IMG_0883

Because there was no bus leaving from the terminal, we drove to the highway. At a rest-area we quickly found a bus going to Zanjan and 2 hours later I was at my destination. I only had to cycle 8km to Saeed´s house.

In the evening we had a dinner with his family. The next day Saeed showed me the famous bazar and his carpet shop. He helped me find some presents and we visited some traditional craftsman.

In the afternoon he drove me to one of his close friends. I stayed with this lovely family till the next day.

They took me to their garden and we had a nice barbecue with tea at the campfire.

Day 502-505 – 7.-10. June 2015

Day 502: On Sunday morning Sahel and I took the bus to Teheran. I spend the morning with Sahel and her sister before heading to Arsalan´s appartment.

We had a small lunch with his roommate and a few friends. Afterwards we drove to Isfahan.

IMG_0702

It was already getting dark when we reached Isfahan. After a quick stop at Arsalan´s home we went out to the city to see one of the famous bridges.

IMG_0709 IMG_0712

Day 503: We sleped in late and Arsalan used the day for some work. In the evening we piked up two of Arsalan´s friends and went to Naqsh-e Jahan Square.

IMG_0816

IMG_0730 IMG_0735

While there, we had a tea and a water-pipe in a very unique place.

IMG_0751

Afterwards we had dinner in a very nice hotel with a fantastic inner courtyard.

IMG_0763 IMG_0773

Day 504-505: The next two days where filled with some more sightseeing and meeting friends. I even went with Arsalan to his gym to exercise a little bit.

IMG_0787 IMG_0836

I had a fantastic time with Arsaman, his family and his friends.

Day 499-501 – 4.-6. June 2015

I decided to visit Isfahan while I was in Iran. So I called Arsalan who is from that city to ask him about a place to stay. It was a lucky coincident that he was going home for a few days and he invited me to come with him.

He was leaving on Sunday so I had three days in Qazvin.
Sahel showed me around the city and the next morning her father and I took a very nice 5 hour hike in the nearby mountains.

IMG_0547 IMG_0570 IMG_0599 IMG_0619 IMG_0635 IMG_0645
The family showed me around and I had too much to eat. Breakfast, lunch and dinner, between the meals fruits and tee with nuts and other sweets. I have to get on my bike again and loose some extra pounds.
I even learned a new recipe of a aborigine, garlic, tomato and egg paste.

Day 496-498 – 1.-3. June 2015

Day 496: Mohammed picked me up at 6:30 in the morning to go to the bus Terminal.

We put all my equipment in the car and I cycled behind him to the bus terminal.IMG_0228
After we found the bus to Qazvin I payed 70.000 Rial(2,5€) for me and additional 150.000 Rial (5€) for my bike and bags.
After the bus was full we started. Two hours later the bus arrived in Qazvin and I waited for Sahel´s father. He loaded all my luggage I did no need for the bike trip into his car and drove in front of me to the other side of the city where I was meeting with Saeed and his friend Rasool.

IMG_0519

After we finally found each other we cycled a few km to a small town. After I bought something to eat and drink for the next days we stopped a Pick-up and hired him to bring us up the mountain.

IMG_0233 IMG_0277

We continued through the valley. We picked some fruits and later we had a brake with some tea.

IMG_0288 IMG_0295IMG_0311

In the evening we found a empty house and stayed for the night.

IMG_0335 IMG_0326

Day 497: The next day the terrain was getting very mountainous. We climbed from 1600m to 2750m in sometimes very steep slopes (12%-15%). The last km before the first village was not paved.

IMG_0351 IMG_0363 IMG_0366 IMG_0368

After we finally reached a popular rest area just behind the village, we had a longer lunch brake.

We met some very friendly motor bikers who offered us some of their kebab. They also had a water-pipe and I smoked it in a wonderful scenery at 2750m. Can it get better?

IMG_0423 IMG_0429 IMG_0430

I was very relaxed and rested but the climb was just to hard. For the next 400m on a very bad dirt road we hired a Pick-up to bring us to the top.

Finally I reached the top of my tour: 3210m.

IMG_0441 IMG_0451 IMG_0457 IMG_0464

From here it was one huge decent to the Caspian See at -28m.

The road was very bad and everything was shaking. After 3 hours of hard decent we decided to look for a place to spent the night. We found a empty house and after a quick dinner I was so ready to go to bed.

IMG_0478 IMG_0488 IMG_0496 IMG_0502

Day 498: The next 25 km to the Caspian See were very easy. The road was good, the weather nice and it was still going down. In the next 2 hours we could cycle 50km.

IMG_0508

In a small town along the See I stopped and took a bus back to Qazvin. Saeed and Rasool continued a while to catch another bus to Zanjan.

The bus ride was OK and after 4 hours I was back in Qazvin.

I only had to go another 3km to Sahel´s house. I was welcomed back and after a shower and a good dinner I was happy to go to bed.

Day 496:  64,87 km  all: 14.842 km

Day 497:  58,52 km  all: 14.901 km

Day 498:  70,94 km  all: 14.971 km

Day 489-495 – 25.-31. May 2015

Day 489: One hour before my flight I received a E-mail with a map of the place where I should stay in Teheran.

The mail was from Yasaman (I met her, Mohammed and Saeed last year on the way to Teheran) and she told me I could stay with a friend.

The 5 hour flight from Düsseldorf to Teheran was smooth and so was the passport control. After I got my luggage there was no customs and I was out of the airport in no time.
I took a taxi to Teheran and on the way I still did not have any information about my stay.
Just 5 minutes before reaching the address, Mohammed called me and we met in the street in front of the building.

It turned out Yasaman had send me an message (I never received) telling me her friend was not available and so I could stay with her family.

I met Yasaman´s sister Sara and her friend Arsalan and we went out for a little sighting.

IMG_0034 IMG_0041

Late at night I collected my bike an equipment from the family I stayed the last time.

Day 490: Because Yasaman and Sara had to go to school, Nina, a friend was willing to show me around.
We went to the Bazar, to some mosque, a temple and a church. We had lunch at a small unique restaurant and drove around the hole day.
In the evening we went to Nina´s place, where I met her parents. They invited me to a very tasty dinner.

IMG_0044 IMG_0045 IMG_0050 IMG_0052 IMG_0059 IMG_0063 IMG_0073

Day 491: When I came back to Yasaman´s apartment, Sara and Arsalan arrived almost at the same time and took me to see some historical buildings in Qazvin.
After we collected two other students they realized it was to late to go to Qazvin.
Sara was pulled over by the police and got a ticket for using here phone while driving. Interesting is that the amount of the fine depends on your income.

We decided to go for lunch and had a nice afternoon with interesting conversation and smoking a water-pipe.

IMG_0079 IMG_0089

In the evening we went to the Milad Tower. The 6th tallest tower of the world.

IMG_0094 IMG_0095 IMG_0108IMG_0102

Day 492: The next day Sara and Arsalan took me to a little party to some of their friends.
After a good self made kebab, some drinks and a water-pipe, we drove to a nice restaurant for a drink. We stayed in the apartment and slept on the floor.

IMG_0139 IMG_0142 IMG_0169

Day 493: After a small breakfast we drove to another restaurant and had a dink. And yes, again a water-pipe.IMG_0203

In the evening Yasaman and Mohammed invited me to Mohammeds family and I tried some slack-lining.
Afterwards we had a small dinner.

IMG_0215 IMG_0219

Day 494: I visited Sahel and her sister who I met last year on the road and stayed at her parents house in Qazvin.
When I came back to Yasaman´s home I met her parents, who where on a vacation trip for the last days.
Mohammed offered to drive me to his uncle to Zanjan (about 400km). We called him and he was going on a bike trip with a friend and offered me to come along. I quickly accepted and we made arrangements for the next day.

Day 495: Mohammed had a small accident with his car, so he was not able to drive me to his uncle.
We talked about other possibilities and after a while we found a way how I could still go on the bike trip.

I am back in Teheran 😁

After more than 8 month in Germany I am back in Iran.

The flight and entry into the country was very smooth.

Now I stay with some very nice people I met last year on the road.

I already have my bike and equipment and in a few days I will cycle back to the west and to Germany.

2 years !!

Today, exactly two years ago I started my tour in Munich.

I discovered many countries, experienced different cultures, met a lot of interesting people and have many unbelievable stories to tell.

It was an amazing journey.

Thank you all for following my blog and supporting me.

It is now time to continue.
After more than 7 month back in Germany I had a lot of time to think about how I will go on.
Due to some personal reasons and other considerations, I decided to do things differently.

My plan is to go back to Iran in a few weeks and cycle back to Germany.

I hope you continue following my blog and share with me all my new expireiences.
